Holston Family

November 12th, 2011

When I think of this Family, I think of Peacefulness.  Calm, relaxed, gentle, loving, unity.  Sometimes at church I will stand somewhere and I may not even have realized that Brandy is next to me or behind me, but I immediately feel calmer and warm.

This Family makes me smile.

And, as for the parents, you’d never be able to guess their age, so don’t even try…  They found the Fountain of Youth somewhere and are hiding it from the rest of us!  When you see how tall their handsome boys are, you realize that however young you thought the parents are cannot be possible, but inside, in their Souls, they have a Youth I envy.

Knowing them has been a Blessing to me.

Here are a few of my favorites from that day several weeks ago…

Senior Twins L+S

May 13th, 2011

Today was a beautiful day!  I had purposefully not mowed the grass, so that I could use it for the girls’ Senior Pictures, only to find out that Laura has a Phobia of Nature.  Sarah was fine with the grass, but would not under any circumstances sit on the bench, due to a Phobia of Wood.  Many of my Creative Ideas were struck down by default, but Laura did sit in the grass and Sarah did lean against a wooden door, so not all was lost!

I had so much fun with these two (and their mother) today.  I will miss them when they PCS (the parents) and go to college (the girls) in just a couple of weeks!

They are both so talented in Music, Sports, and the Arts – my Prayer for them is that they keep in using the Talents that God gave them, keep up their sweet Spirit, and maintain their incredible Maturity.  Anyone who comes across these two young Ladies will be blessed by knowing them – that’s all there is to it!

Here are a few sample pictures – just some that caught my eye as I first looked through them:

Cinco is Here!

May 12th, 2011

So, I have been extremely busy lately and can hardly believe that I was busy enough to forget to put up the following picture from the Birthing Experience I had the honor to witness.  Jessica gave birth in her home with a wonderful German midwife, Alexa.  She was planning a water birth, but little Man G had other plans.  I ended up going home less than an hour before his arrival, simply because everything had slowed down and everyone thought it could still take a long time.  I did get to capture this incredible image and Jessica and James’ Unity and Strength during the part of the Labor I was there for.

G was a Fighter and was born with a True Knot in his Umbilical Cord, but is healthy and strong.

Two weeks later, I got to take his Newborn Pictures.  He cooperated a  little, but I did get some great images of him hanging in a basket from a tree!  That is not what I will post, however.  It’s the details that I love, so here are his red little feet in his Mother’s loving Hands.

Congratulations Jessica and James on your Fifth Little Blessing!

Baby Cinco in Waiting

April 11th, 2011

Saturday I had the honor of doing a Maternity Shoot for an amazing Momma!  The Family is anticipating the arrival of Baby #5, lovingly nicknamed “Cinco”.  The gender will be a surprise, so Cinco, it is.

The first surprise for me was that when I left my village, I had to turn back around and detour, due to road construction.  Besides the fact that it made me late, I did not mind too much – I saw scenery I had not seen before and it was breathtakingly beautiful, preparing my mind and heart for the shoot.  The second “minor distraction” was that I took Ephraim with me and, of course, had to nurse him first thing as I arrived.  He will be my permanent sidekick for a while.

This family was so much fun to work with!  Momma J is glowing and so beautiful.

And so ready – a feeling I still remember well.

I usually have my head full of ideas of what kind of images I want to capture and create and I can’t wait to get started.   Momma J had this incredible idea, incorporating her entire family, that I was extremely excited about and due to a certain permanent element to it, we had to wait until the very end to take these…

Check this out.  Perfect reflection of who this family is – togetherness, bound by love, waiting to welcome their new addition into the midst and arms (my version of it, anyway…)

After spending time with this family, I was anticipating getting back to my own – even if that meant another detour…

Family D

March 22nd, 2011

Just a quick Sneak Peek of Friday’s Family Photo Shoot.  The shoot was originally planned for Tuesday and the weather was so nice.  We had to postpone it to Friday…   It was pretty cold and windy, but still they braved the outside – gritted teeth and all.   :)

Little Princess M

February 21st, 2011

One of my favorites from Saturday’s shoot.  What a beautiful little girl – only 3 weeks old and so expressive already!  Just look at those gorgeous eyes.

A little on the serious side.

January 18th, 2011

I just want to quickly make a quick note, due to some activity I have seen on my blogs lately.

It is illegal, which actually means: not legal, so therefore a criminal act, to take any of the pictures posted on my blog.  I have the following disclaimer, which should be very clear and states: Images are Property of Miriam Pinkston Photography – mspFotografie.  All right reserved.  Distribution, printing, saving or altering of Digital Images is illegal and punishable by law.

Excerpt from the PPA website: “Copyright is a property right. Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976 (effective January 1, 1978 and amended when the USA joined the Berne Convention in 1989), photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation.”

My work is my creation, my creation is my work.

I understand that there is a common perception in today’s media-filled world, that everything should be up for grabs, but it is not.  I also understand that when someone is in a picture I have taken or has any emotional relationship to a picture I have taken, that one might think it is alright to take the picture, but that is also incorrect.

Before the digital world, no one thought about taking a photographer’s negatives and so just because the access is easier, does not give anyone the right to steal my, or anyone’s, work.  Even if the image is simply saved to a computer other than mine without permission, it is considered stolen property.  If there is desire for ownership of digital images of my work, there is always the option to purchase those images and the copyrights with them.

Why am writing all this, one might wonder?  Well, I can see, behind the scenes of my blog, what is done to my images.  I can see, if it has been downloaded, etc.  I do not know where they go or who does it, but I can see which images are taken and therefor I can obviously get an overall idea…

I am writing this to educate my clients and supporters, not to chastise.  You may not be aware of what an illegal act of taking a photographers’ work is, but now you do.

Unfortunately, if I do not see a decrease in this form of activity, I will simply have to refrain from posting any pictures, Sneak Peeks, etc. and images will be strictly viewed in house and distributed after the old-fashioned method of payments for the services provided.

I am sad writing this because it makes me sad that such misuse is even out there.  I know it is a mainstream activity commonly practiced, despite of it being wrong.  I just hope that this does not continue with anyone’s work out there.

I will do a better job at educating my clients in the future, so that hopefully, I will be able to continue posting pictures for everyone to see.

I apologize if this comes across as harsh, it had to be said.

Hopefully next post will be a much happier one! :)

Thank you to all of you for your never-ending interest and support.

Miriam

Little Man B.

January 15th, 2011

Our neighbors and I have been trying to get together for a while for some pictures of Little B and them.  Today was the day.  The natural light was great and Little Man was teething, so this is my favorite shot of him and his Mommy.

William and Robin – Wedding July 31st

August 26th, 2010

This was my first Wedding working while pregnant.  If I would not have had Grant there with me I am sure I would have struggled in the heat, but he was not only my Second Shooter, but also my Running Boy. :) I have an awesome husband.

Grant and I met William while we were in Italy.  We knew William to be a quiet, reserved, individual.  I already mentioned in the blog about their Engagement Pictures how amazed I was how Robin transformed William – their Wedding Day was no exception.  In fact is started at the Rehearsal Dinner where the stories and comments told and made showcased exactly how perfect these two are for each other.  We were honored to have been a part of their journey!

The day was just as hot as the day of the Bridal Shoot and we were much more careful with the flowers and had more than enough water.  I was very happy that the actual ceremony and reception was inside. :)   The lighting in the church building of the Marion Church of Christ was gorgeous with all the huge stain glass windows, we found enough shade for the outside pictures and the family and friends involved were a lot of fun!

A beautiful day for a beautiful couple.
